"What would you be doing at home right now, anyway, sis?" Ellie looked out the passenger window. It was the twilight now. Maybe they could make it to the trailer park just outside of Alliance. They'd already passed Chimney Rock in the almost barren country. Taken a turn north at Scottsbluff and went north.

"Don't you remember when we lived, you know, in Alliance?" Ellie couldn't help but smile about it.

"Not really." Her sister's voice was dull and as of yet, Ellie knew she'd never been in love. It was as if she was waiting for a an epiphany of some sort, or just to be there for the birth of Ellie's child. "This was such a bad idea." She kept shaking her head as she watched the road and stirred on.

"This is where I belong," Ellie felt certain of it even if her stomach was awful still. She hoped everything was all right. It had to be.

"How do you know that?" Her sister looked at her as if she were crazy.

"Because I have dreams of this place. That's why." She had. For so long. They always took her back to this place. The old woman's place. The home that had been chosen for her. If not this life. Perhaps another. She did not know. But she had to keep faith to get there.

They drove through Alliance. It wasn't quite dark. Or was it? Finally on the outskirts of the town was the trailer park.

"Now what?" Her sister didn't know where to go.

"I can't believe you don't remember this place." Ellie winced. It was the place at the end of the road. It looked like something out of a cartoon perhaps. A nice little pink trailer.

"Who in their right mind would live there?"

"I guess, I would." Ellie just nodded. She knew exactly where the key was when she got out. Only it wasn't there. But the door was unlocked.
