blue moonlight

Ellie could sense the stale air around her as she walked into the darkness. Not a streetlight in sight. It was an irie feeling. Yet, she didn't fear it as much as she thought she would.

She wasn't sure why or how Bro. Sal knew to find her. She just kept walking as if she'd stumbled into this and all she knew to do was to walk out of it the best way she knew she could.

Ellie thought there was moonlight, but she didn't see the moon shining down on her. How could this be? It felt blue. A midnight blue. Was she sure she was in the same place from before?

She walked into the town. Past the square which was totally dead. She saw the theater though on the corner. It stood shining like a beacon of some sort. Just waiting for her. She supposed. But just when she got there, the lights blinked out. It was if she had some sort of energy to make the power go out. No matter, she was going in. Except, the door wouldn't budge.

"Damn," she kicked at the door which was no help. This was really beginning to bother her. How come Bro. Sal hadn't been that much help? He could have came with her. He could have found Kale if it had been that important, couldn't he? Couldn't he.

"Shit," she kicked it again out of anger. Then she decided to bang on the door. "Hey, let me in! I need to talk to you! Kale!" She banged harder til she could no more. She was tired. So tired. What was happening? Why was it like this. She was losing energy.

"What are you doing here?" There was Kale in the street smoking a cigarette. She could barely make him out.

"I don't know, I think Bro. Sal killed me," it was the best answer Ellie could come up with as she came closer hoping to see him more clearly.

He put out the cigarette.

"You don't remember?" He asked.

"No." What was she supposed to remember?

"From before?"

"What before?"

"The motel room," he said. Ellie looked up at his face then hoping to memorize every detail of it. She couldn't help it. She just couldn't.

"I don't remember," A chill came over her though as if maybe she might, but she really didn't want too.

"You have to," Kale said, and when he kissed her with a deep kiss, it all came back to her like an avalanche.
