It had been a good day. There had been a lot of good days at the truck-stop, lately. First it was the chocolate chip cookie recipe that came through. Now the meatloaf was amazing.

"You're a keeper." The old man who had cooked far too long at the truck-stop informed Ellie who couldn't help but smile. It was contagious. All this happiness.

People were really smiling. Yet the skies were gray. It looked like rain. Perhaps.

Ellie waited at the theater for Kale. She supposed she'd made him want to work harder. But he was still depressed. She thought if he had one of her cookies he might come around, but as it was, he was working more at the theater. She thought it was just a ploy to stay away from her. Maybe he was jealous, for all she knew. That wasn't what she was hoping for.

There was still hope. She wasn't sure why she believed in it. But she waited for him as the rain started to fall. This could be a real world, after all.

And when she saw him there by the steps up to the projection room, she rushed up and kissed him as if there was no other thing to do.

"You shouldn't have done that," he said, but she knew differently. It was meant to be.

"Why are you fighting it?" Ellie asked as he walked past out the doors into the rain. She followed.
He waited.

The neon lights blinked out overhead of the theater.

"What is this?" Kale looked up as drops continued to fall down on them.

Ellie smiled, put her arm around him.

"Its really a nice night for rain," Ellie said.

They stood there for sometime, staring up into the drops until he finally kissed her, as if he'd caught on. As if he didn't have to think. As if this was a good time to be here, after all.
