"I'm working." "You work at the truckstop." "Maybe I want to start my own business." "Fat chance that'll happen." Kale was sour on the idea. "You're making this too hard on yourself. What are you trying to become? Can't you see, you're the only one who loves this place." "I can see that," Ellie sighed starting back from scratch with salt this time to replace the flour. "We just have to find what is true here." "This is stupid." He grabbed her shoulders then and turned her around. "Go to bed. Stop this nonsense." "I can't. I don't know why, but I have to. Nothing else good will come of it." She frowned. "What do you mean?" He squinted then with a heavy sigh. "Look at you? You're stuck in a rut. You might as well be home taking your homemade drugs. You don't want a change. It scares you." "You scare me," Kale then told her. "Really?" That was the last thing she expected to hear. "You're like living color in a black and white world. I want-" "What?" "I want you to be happy, and I know you can't be here much longer if thats what you want. You can't accept this. This fate, can you?" Kale said with a sad sigh. "Its not like its exactly working out," Ellie moved back away from him and went to clean up her mess. "It is, everyones noticed. Maybe more will try to be like you," Kale said. "But not you," she said with her back turned away. When she looked back again, he wasn't there.
